Rescue Stories
We wish they could talk. We wish they could tell us their story.
Sasha, a stray kitten, was hit by a car and brought to the clinic by a kind stranger. She had a fractured femur, infected wounds all over her body, anemia, and neurological complications, including bleeding in her eyes. Unable to walk or eat, she'd been suffering for days.
I oversaw her care—bloodwork, fluids, x-rays, and pain relief. Despite everything, I couldn’t stop thinking about her on my drive home. She deserved a chance. I couldn’t let her go to the shelter where she’d likely be euthanized. So I called for help, and our rescue team stepped up.
Her journey has been rough. She lost her leg in her first surgery, had a second surgery to repair wounds, and then developed severe thrush, making eating impossible. With her body failing, she required a third surgery to place a feeding tube—her only chance to survive.
Sasha’s spirit is strong, and she continued to fight. She has already gone through more pain than any creature should ever know. But through it all, she’s kept fighting. For as long as she is fighting, I won’t give up on her. I’ve gotten good at doing one-handed bandage changes, baths (because she’s non ambulatory- she was unable to use the litterbox), esophageal tube feedings 5x a day, SO MANY different medications, round the clock care and monitoring- but she is finally turning the corner. With the feeding tube in place, she’s getting proper nutrition, gaining weight, and even playing like a kitten should. She is going to make it.
Sasha deserves the chance to heal, to grow, and to know what it feels like to be loved and safe. She is now healthy, happy, and loves the company of other kitties! She’d be a great companion kitty and is available for adoption. Apply for her today!
